Discover the advantages of Casatax
In the canton of Geneva, you can benefit from a reduction in registration fees, which will considerably reduce your purchase costs. All this is made possible by "Casatax". More clearly, this is a tax reduction that is immediately deducted from the purchase costs, so there is no need (for you, the future buyer) to disburse these funds. A bargain not to be missed, especially as the registration fees on mortgage deeds are also reduced by half.
As has been the case every year since 2004, the CASATAX amount is revalued and adjusted according to the Geneva construction price index. Thus, since 1 March 2021, the ceiling price of the property acquired in the canton of Geneva must not exceed CHF 1,207,346. The reduction in registration fees has been increased to CHF 18,110. These figures reflect an annual variation of approximately +0.5%.
However, beware. This reduction only concerns private buyers and cannot be claimed retrospectively. Moreover, the establishment within the property must be carried out within two years of the signing of the sales contract. Finally, the purchaser undertakes to establish his or her main residence in the property for a minimum of three years, failing which the entire rebate must be repaid.
